The six core programs

• the Adult program (Title I of WIOA),

• the Dislocated Worker program (Title I),

• the Youth program (Title I),

• the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act program (Title II), and

• the Wagner-Peyser Act Employment Service program (authorized under the Wagner-Peyser Act, as amended by title III),

• the Vocational Rehabilitation program (authorized under Title I of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended by Title IV)

LABOR & ECONOMIC JUSTICE

• Require a $15 federal minimum wage that rises with inflation.

• Protect retirement rights for current and future beneficiaries in the Arizona State Retirement

System and maintain the Arizona State Retirement System’s defined benefit system. Secure

these rights for all employees.

• Ensure 12 weeks of annual paid medical or family leave for all public and private employees.

• Retrain fossil-fuel industry workers to help grow our clean energy industry.

• Prevent discrimination in pay and work conditions based on race, ethnicity, age, gender

identity and sexual orientation.

• Strengthen labor laws to protect older workers from forced retirement.

• Provide regulated, subsidized childcare.

• End privatization of government services.

• Regulate banking and lending policies, including redlining and covenants.

• Strengthen consumer finance protections.

• End predatory short-term lending.

• Reform arbitration laws and eliminate mandatory arbitration in consumer and employment

matters.

• Tax progressively, based on ability to pay. Close loopholes. Impose a wealth tax.

• End corporate tax giveaways where there is no tangible or documented financial return on

the public’s investment.

• Protect and strengthen Social Security benefits.

• Expand nonprofit financial institutions and establish public banks.

• Address the true cost of the damage done to indigenous nations and peoples and the

descendants of enslaved people. Remediate that damage through reparations, policy reform

and affirmative action.

Looking to start a career in the truck driving industry? Through Pima’s Center for Transportation Training, you can earn your Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in as little as 6.5 weeks, and receive comprehensive hands-on, on-the-road-training on the very trucks and trailers you’ll be driving. Program is compliant with Entry Level Driver Training federal rule.

Our professional truck driver training is very affordable, and we offer free career placement assistance. In fact, you may receive a job offer before you finish your training.

Students who have their Class A CDL can prepare for future jobs in the trucking industry by pursuing Pima’s Autonomous Vehicle Driver and Operations Specialist Certificate. This training program will provide you with the skills you need to work with self-driving trucks

Pima’s Class B CDL training program teaches students how to safely operate a vehicle that can carry 16 passengers or more.

The Center for Transportation Training also offers CDL examination services for Classes A, B, and C.


Business services teams provide a wide array of supportive services to employers, including:

• Outreach to employers to meet the needs of applicant pools;

• Conducting on-site meetings with employers to assess their needs and develop a strategy; • Developing comprehensive job announcements that clearly illustrate needed qualifications, educational and experience requirements;

• Plan, support, promote, and manage the logistics of customized recruitment events to meet employer demand;

• Applicant screening to match job seekers who meet specific skill requirements;

• Informing employers of career and training services such as On-the-Job Training programs, Incumbent Worker Training programs, Customized Training programs, industry and sector strategies and career pathways initiatives

Participating in sector partnerships and industry led projects. Services to Individuals: Services are provided for adults, dislocated workers, and youth; individuals with disabilities; English language learners and adult education students; actively engage Veterans and other priority and special populations (as defined in WIOA). Workforce services provided to individuals based on individual qualifications include:

• Outreach, intake and orientation to information and other services available through the ARIZONA@WORK one-stop system;

• Determination of services an individual is eligible to receive;

• Assistance developing an individualized employment plan;

• Initial assessment of skill levels as conducted by each program (e.g., Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) participants receive additional psychological or medical evaluation to ascertain a diagnosis, vocational testing to assess aptitudes and skills, assessment to determine assistive technology needs, and trial work experiences to evaluate an individual’s capacity to perform in competitive and integrated employment settings);

• Provision of information on potential employment options based on labor market information including: (i) nontraditional employment options and In-Demand industry sectors and occupations; (ii) Job vacancy listings in labor market areas; (iii) Information on job skills necessary to obtain the vacant jobs listed; and (iv) Achievable employment goals based on the knowledge, skills, abilities, capabilities, and interests of the individual
